Our Pastoral Council

Purpose and Functions
The Pastoral Council, while conducting itself as a small Christian community, will be composed of members interested in serving our Parish (CCCC) by working cooperatively and collaboratively with the Pastor. The purpose of the Pastoral Council is “to examine and consider all that relates to pastoral work/life and to offer practical conclusions on these matters, so that the life and activity of the People of God may be brought into greater conformity with the Gospel.” (Pope Paul VI, Ecclesiae Sanctae).
Corpus Christi Pastoral Council members will consist of about 12 to 15 registered members of the Parish, and represent diversity and the entire parish community. Members will attend Council meetings and associated functions, as well as serve in support of the pastoral goals and projects.
Selection to serve on the Pastoral Council is based on the principles of discernment, self-nomination and confirmation. The Pastor may appoint some members depending on the pastoral need of the Parish.
Objectives and main function of the Pastoral Council
  • To PROVIDE a means for constructive dialogue among all members of the parish and between the individual parish community and the community at large.
  • To ASSESS adequately, with the leadership of the Pastor, the spiritual and material situation of the parish community for both present and future.
  • To FOSTER and support a unified vision of the parish through development of a parish mission statement and goals.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to address parish needs.
Pastoral Council Goals
Pastoral Council Goals are directly related to one of the seven essential elements of the Parish: Worship, Community, Leadership, Word, Social Justice, Evangelization and Stewardship.
NOTE: The Pastoral Council is consultative to the pastor, as the Archdiocesan Pastoral
Council and the Presbyteral Council are consultative to the Archbishop. Consultation by its very definition means to be open and seek the wisdom of; ask the advice of a person or group in order to reach consensus decisions.

 Fr. Paschal Amagba, CMF
